My office has one Graduate Assistant and two student assistants.

The Graduate Assistant does all of the locating of funding sources/programs
for faculty, send out notices to faculty/administrators that have indicated
interest in program areas based on a database we have in-house.  We keep
the GA very busy!  And, we think the GA learns a good bit about funding
sources, programs within agencies, etc., etc.   At least that is what we
have been told.  In fact, at least one of the recent GA's has moved into a
grant-administrative position within a helping agency based in good part on
the work she did in this office prior to graduation.
