Jim and RESADMers, I serve as ex officio staff to our IRB.  Serving as chair and also Director of Grants & Research carries to high a potential for conflicts of interest, I think.  So a tenured faculty serves as chair and I do all the staff work.  I review protocols for projects which are exempted from full board review; the chair and I together review expedited protocols.
