International Contracting
F. John Case 22 Mar 2002 18:16 EST
Dear Colleagues,
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is interested in
communicating with institutions that have significant
involvement in the field of international contracting with funding
organizations such as the World Bank, World Health Organization, Unicef,
USAID, UNDP and others. One objective of such a dialogue is to
determine if a commonality of interests would result in the development
of a Best Practice model or procedures beneficial to the University
community as a whole. The format of the dialog will be a one-day
symposium, we will host the event. We have developed a paragraph
indicating the purpose of the event:
"We propose to conduct a one-day, invitation only (group of ten or so
universities to keep it manageable and productive), symposium of
concerned university research administrators to share best practices,
experience and advice on how to best deal with the unique challenges of
international research operations. Areas of focus are proposed to be (1)
application and award, (2) operations, and (3) campus coordination. So
as to minimize cost and maximize impact, we further propose a one-day
agenda having the goal of producing a working paper (for all to benefit
from) that summarizes best practices and areas for further development."
If you would be willing to participate in this exercise please contact
Kent Walker @ (919) 962-1353 or xxxxxx@email.unc.edu.
Please refer all questions to Kent.
Thanks,
John
