MEMORANDUM
TO: UAF Community
FROM: Marshall L. Lind, Chancellor
RE: Senior Administrative Changes
DATE: March 14, 2002
Friends and colleagues at UAF, I know you will join me in
thanking Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services Frank Williams for
his nearly four years in his current post. Many of you know that he has
held a dual appointment as administrative services vice chancellor and
director of the Arctic Region Supercomputing Center. I have asked him to
resume a more active role in supporting computational aspects of
oceanography, weather and climate modeling, ionospheric physics,
visualization and the emerging field of bioinformatics, and to
strengthen our partnerships with federal agencies and research
institutes on behalf of UAF. Therefore, Dr. Williams is returning to his
duties as ARSC Director on a full-time basis, effective immediately.
I have asked senior associate general counsel Mark Neumayr to
step in as interim vice chancellor for administrative services. I have
every confidence in his abilities and his understanding of the central
mission of UAF as a teaching, research and public service institution.
Mark has been with the university since 1982 and has served in various
positions within the statewide counsel's office. He has helped negotiate
student affairs policies and real estate transactions on behalf of UAF,
among his other duties. Please join me in welcoming him to his new
position at UAF.
