Eleanor and all,
Our experience indicates that allowability of AY salary payments from NSF
depends on the directorate--some allow it and some don't. If our PI wants
to ask for it, we have him/her speak directly to the program officer to
determine if it is allowed (they may be asked for a justification); if so,
they propose it up front, and there is no issue after the award is made.
