The University of California Research
Administration Office (RAO) is responsible for sponsor and
University policy implementation and
interpretation, sponsor relations, support to Office of the President
(OP) research and outreach programs, publishing
the UC system wide Contract and Grant Policy
Manual, and maintaining the corporate contract
and grant information system.
Responsibilities:
This position serves as the Contract & Grant
Officer to all OP departments with proposal submissions to
extramural sponsors, and award
administration. Provides guidance in proposal preparation,
negotiates appropriate award terms, and assures
compliance with University and external
requirements. Serves as the "Grantor' Contracts &
Grants Officer for OP departments making grants to
other UC entities and external institutions.
Provides guidance on development of acceptable solicitation
announcements and program guidelines, and writes
appropriate agreements. Provides training and
supervision of a Contracts & Grants Assistant,
and acts as back-up for the Principal Analyst II.
Qualifications:
Working knowledge of higher education research
administration, and experience in working with
Federal, State, and private sponsors.
Demonstrated independent judgment, self-initiative, strong
analytical, conceptual, and writing skills. Must
be able to work with people in a corporate headquarters
environment, with counterparts at various
institutions, and with personnel at all levels. Must be
service oriented. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or
higher in a related field.
