Manager, Pre-Award Research Services (Medical)

The George Washington University, the largest higher education
institution in the nation’s capital, is seeking a manager to oversee
pre-award research services for its medical faculty and staff.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities.

Proposal and award review, including negotiation of contracts and
agreements for clinical studies, and supervision of research service
coordinators in their pre-award services supporting medical faculty and
staff research endeavors.  The pre-award manager will be familiar with
all compliance issues, attend institutional review board meetings, and
maintain communication with other University and affiliated offices as
necessary.

Entry-Level Qualifications.

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and
experience; a minimum of five years of progressive management experience
in pre-award research administration in a medical center environment, to
include negotiation of clinical studies; wide-ranging experience with
federal and non-federal sponsored research in a medical center
environment; and strong negotiation, supervisory, communication, and
customer service skills.  The successful candidate will have a proven
ability to work effectively in a team environment and under pressure to
meet deadlines.
