Manager-Grants & Contracts

The Public Health Institute, an exciting non profit organization
incorporated in 1964 seeks to fill a new full time position as Manager,
Grants and Contracts, in our Berkeley, California headquarters office.   The
Grants & Contracts Department currently provides post-award grant management
services for 250 active projects funded by federal, state, private
foundation, and other agencies.  This department is also the interface
between program staff, funders, and internal administrative departments.
Reporting directly to the Director of Grants & Contracts, this position will
provide general supervision to 4-5 dedicated grant management staff and will
serve as a resource in the monitoring of active grants and contracts.  The
selected candidate will also directly manage a portfolio of active projects
interpreting specific award terms, providing assistance to program staff and
funders in identifying and resolving award-related problems, developing and
modifying budgets and other award components, monitoring expenditures, and
negotiating contracts, grants, and subawards.

Requires:  Bachelor's degree and substantial senior level grant management
experience in a nonprofit or university setting, and demonstrated
familiarity with federal and state contract and grant regulations as they
apply to nonprofit organizations.  Applicants should have five or more years
of relevant experience with increasing responsibility in managing projects
and supervising staff.  Strong software proficiency in Microsoft Word,
Excel, and Access, excellent writing, editing, interpersonal, and team
building skills are required.  Candidates must be comfortable working in a
fast paced environment.  Familiarity with Lawson Software desired.
