PREAWARD SPECIALIST II

The Office of Sponsored Programs at the University of Texas Medical
Branch in Galveston, Texas is seeking a motivated and customer-oriented
individual interested in joining our staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:       This position provides information on funding
opportunities for research and other sponsored programs to UTMB faculty
and facilitates the application process throughout proposal development.
The Preaward Specialist reviews program guidelines and announcements and
gains familiarity with a wide range of sponsor specific requirements in
order to serve as a source of assistance and expertise.  Additionally,
proposals are analyzed for required sponsor elements and to ensure
compliance with sponsor terms and conditions as well as federal, state
and institutional regulations.  The Preaward function also negotiates
the terms of all incoming contracts and issues all outgoing subcontract
agreements. Since this person serves as the primary point of expertise on
budgetary matters and initiates the process of account set-up when awards
are received, familiarity with basic accounting principles are considered
a part of the desired skill-set.

QUALIFICATIONS: The cadidate selected will possess and exhibit a high
degree of professionalism, have a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of
related experience. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are
essential.
