Research Compliance Officer (RCO): The University of North
Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) seeks an administrative
coordinator to oversee the University's compliance with federal
and state regulations and policies on human subjects, animal
care and use, biohazards, radiation safety, scientific
misconduct, and conflicts of interest. This position reports to
the Associate Provost for Research.
The RCO will serve as a consultant and resource specialist to
faculty, staff, and students whose activities interface with
University compliance committees, including the Institutional
Review Board, the Animal Care and Use Committee, Biosafety
Committee, and the Radiation Safety Committee; the RCO will
serve in an ex officio capacity to all four committees. The RCO
will also promote the development of training and workshop
opportunities at UNCG, maintain a web page with compliance
information, and monitor and analyze emerging federal and state
regulations in these and other areas.
The Officer is expected to demonstrate knowledge in compliance
issues and familiarity with the ethical and legal bases for
assurance. Proven abilities in database management and
interaction with a broad spectrum of constituencies, including
regulatory agencies, are additional attributes sought in
candidates. Identifying candidates who are especially familiar
with compliance issues regarding human subjects is a high
priority in this search; the demonstration of experience in or
potential to gain mastery of compliance issues in animal use,
biosafety, and radioisotopes, is also expected.
UNCG is an emerging research institution with doctoral programs
in diverse areas. External funding for grants and contracts
during the past year reached a University record of $33 million,
