POSITION AVAILABLE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OFFICE OF CONTRACTS & GRANTS UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL The mission of the Office of Contracts and Grants is: 1) to provide professional, timely, and courteous assistance and direction to faculty and staff in their research activities and asset management activities; 2) serve as a administrative and financial liaison between university faculty/staff and sponsors; and 3) insure that the universitys sponsored program activities for research administration matters are carried out in accordance with applicable regulations. The primary purpose of this position will be to assist the Executive Director in the daily management and functional needs of the organization. This includes both the management of sponsored programs and university assets. The position will report directly to the Executive Director. This position is will perform high-level tasks of the Office that are critical to the efficiency and effectiveness of its daily activities. This position will fill the needed roles of operations coordinator, administrative reporting, training coordination, project management, and continued process improvement in all areas. It is imperative the person is enthusiastic, knowledgeable in sponsored research and financial reporting and, especially, a team player. Responsibilities must be carried out in a timely manner; in full compliance with the regulations of the University, the state, and the federal government in such a way that compliance is maintained, while permitting maximum flexibility to University units. Requirements: Graduation with a four-year degree. A major in Accounting or Business is helpful, but not essential, or six years equivalent experience in research administration/accounting at progressive management and supervisory levels. Project management, financial reporting and analysis, and customer service skill are beneficial.
