We have been using credit cards for a number of years and have included the
fees as an allowable charge.  This is similar to the "overhead" that some of
our campus services provide that they must absorb therefore they add this
fee to their costs.

Colleagues:

We are trying to set up a system to accept credit card payments for
sponsored projects and have some important questions for those of you that
have already done this:

Is the credit card fee that is charged by the bank an allowable cost on a
federal project?  How about a non-federal project?  If you do not charge it
as a direct cost to the project, is it absorbed under your F & A costs?

I would really appreciate hearing from any of you that have already answered
these questions.
