Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Specialist

(Job #2009): The University of Toledo's Office of Research seeks an
individual to provide management and leadership to the University's
intellectual property and technology transfer activities.  The Office of
Research currently manages about 90 issued patents (U.S. and foreign).
In FY 2001, the University of Toledo received nearly $20 million in
research funding.  This position will serve as the campus representative
on intellectual property and technology transfer activities; develop a
patenting and licensing strategy; work with patent committee in
evaluating invention disclosures; monitor deadlines; identify licensees
for new technologies; prepare summary of technical information for
marketing purposes; invoice licensees for legal fees; supervise files
and records using DEALS software; maintain revenue files; and draft and
negotiate terms in option/license agreements and material transfer
agreements.  A Master's degree or equivalent experience in an area
related to technology management required as well as demonstrated
experience working with patents and other intellectual property.
Candidate licensed as a U.S. patent agent or willingness to sit for the
patent bar is a plus.  Strong oral and written communication and
interpersonal skills and the ability to work on multiple, complex
transactions with deadlines are essential.  More information available
