Cookie Willems, CRA Director, Office of Sponsored Programs ph. 207.288.6488 fax. 207.288.6053 ****************************** Manager, Grants Management and Research Administrative Support Services This full-time position, reporting to the Director, Office of Sponsored Programs, is responsible for the management of two self-directed teams under the Office of Sponsored Programs umbrella. This position oversees all functions and workflow of the Grants Management Office, including supervision of a staff of 3 FTE, adherence to federal guidelines and grant application submission requirements, coordination of the grants application process, coordination and tracking of all sponsor progress reporting requirements, and developing and monitoring internal grants procedures and policies. This position is also responsible for all administrative aspects of Research Administrative Support Services, including supervision of a staff of 6 FTE, coordination of administrative and secretarial support to the Scientific Staff, and identifying and facilitating training opportunities. With an emphasis on communication and efficiency, this position is key in fostering a successful relationship between the Office of Sponsored Programs and the Scientific Staff. In addition to ongoing interactions with the Scientific Staff, this position communicates frequently with external sponsoring agencies and other research institutions as well as colleagues in various departments throughout the Laboratory. Qualifications include experience in pre-award research administration and knowledge of federal grants policies, institutional review board compliance issues, and automated systems management. Also critical to this position is a solid understanding of budget development and management, and advanced knowledge of computer applications, including extensive experience with word processing, spreadsheets, bibliographic databases, document management, WWW searching, and web design. Excellent communication, supervisory, and training skills are vital to the success of this position. The Jackson Laboratory is one of the world's foremost centers for mammalian genetics research.
