You will learn that all the California State University campuses have such
an arrangement. In general, the private non-profit status of such groups
gives them more flexibility in HR than state agencies have.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Human Resources Question
Is there anyone working with, or in a Research Corporation/Foundation
setting where the human resource support systems are provided independent of
the university served. Specifically, we are looking into a system where our
Research Corp. will actually hire employees. Currently, all employees are
university (State) employees.
If you have any information that would be helpful and are willing to discuss
your experiences, please contact Colleen Lankford at (304)293-8704 or at
