Re: start-up money for new biological science facultymember Sally Eckert-Tilotta 12 Jun 2001 10:20 EST

This can vary considerably according to the academic area the person is in , how much infrastructure that is already in place relevant to the request/need, what the department will cover from their funds, etc. Faculty in the basic medical sciences can get in the $150k - $200k range, while a bug person might only get $20k - $30k.

Colleagues,
Please advise me how much funding (start-up money) your university provides
a newly hired biological science faculty member to equip and run her/his
lab. This excludes the new professor's salary.

Thanks for your help.
