Salary: $52,700 to $60,000 yearly

Responsibilities: The Research Administration Office (RAO) is
responsible for sponsor and university
policy implementation and interpretation, sponsor
relations, support to Office of the President Research Programs, publishing
the UC-wide Contract and Grant Policy Manual, and maintaining the corporate
contract and grant information system. Monitor Federal policy changes in
the Federal Register Acquisition Regulation, OMB Circulars, Federal
Register proposed rules in assigned subject areas.
The person in this position develops University responses and positions.
Assists campus Contracts and Grants Officers in resolving policy issues
directly with sponsors. Project Manager for updating and completing the
UC-wide Contracts and Grants Policy Manual. Design effective access to
complex subject and regulatory materials. Electronic research
administration includes keeping abreast of Federal agency electronic
initiatives, and assisting UC campuses in developing electronic interfaces.
Responsible for designing and improving the usefulness of the RAO Home
Page, the UC-corporate contracts and grants information system, and the
interface with other corporate systems.
Qualifications: Working knowledge of university research administration
and the Federal grants and contracts regulatory systems. This is a senior,
not an apprentice position. Self-initiative, independence of thought,
creative value added problem solving, and the highest level of analysis,
interpretation and judgment are expected. Ability to think and write
clearly. Excellent analytical, English language, and interpersonal skills.
Must enjoy solving complex and seemingly
intractable problems. Computer systems know how, or
aptitude must be sufficient to manage the RAO Home page, mainframe data
base, and use of data warehouses. Ability to work with people in a
corporate headquarters environment and with campus counterparts. Service
orientation important. Preferred: Masters Degree or higher in a related field.
