Over the last 20 years VCU has had a couple of these. Clearly they are
awards to individuals. As a service to our faculty, we provide any
assistance or guidance we can on the paperwork. I also offer my personal
advice to set up a separate checking account exclusively for the award --
generally a "pay by the check" account costs least -- because it provides a
clearly auditable record, differentiates grant activities from personal
ones, and if everything is paid by check, no costs are forgotten when tax
time comes.
