NIH Award Errors Terry Thurston 11 Apr 2001 09:18 EST

We are seeing an increasing number of computational errors on NIH award
notices we receive at our Medical School. We are in a situation where
there are multiple F&A rates effective in varying fiscal years which
complicates things a bit, but there are also errors regarding failure to
make exclusions for equipment, subcontracts, etc. Our award analysts are
spending a large amount of time e-mailing the NIH Grant Specialists to
resolve these issues. A large percent of the time we are not receiving
replies even with follow-up contacts.

Are others experiencing such award notice computational errors?

Are you spending an increasing amount of time, more time than is
reasonable, following up with Grant Specialists?

Or if there are errors, are you avoiding going back to NIH by applying an
institutional policy to accept the error within a certain dollar limit?

You can reply to me on the listserv or at my personal e-mail at
