Summary:
The Assistant Director (AD) functions as the key liaison with Project
Directors, project staff and Business Services in the administration of
sponsored projects from a wide portfolio of federal, state, private and
international sponsors.

Essential Functions:
Coordinates and administers contracts and grants from proposal review and
submission through award and closeout.  Provides review and oversight of
grant application and contract proposal submission, ensuring compliance
with Institutional Review Board (IRB), and sponsoring agencies.

He/she ensures proposed terms and conditions are in compliance with
applicable regulations, EDC policy and do not conflict with existing
commitments of EDC. Reviews and negotiates terms and conditions of new
contractual agreements and evaluates changes to pre-existing agreements.
Works with Project Director to prepare cost-to-completes.

Provides analysis and recommendations to executive staff (such as Director
of Sponsored Programs, VP and Treasurer, Controller, Legal Counsel, and
President) as necessary.

Participates in the development and implementation of internal policies,
procedures and guidelines.

Has up-to-date knowledge of and expertise in Federal/state/private
agencies' regulations and policies.  Stays abreast of new laws and OMB
circulars that affect sponsored program activities.

Monitors post-award compliance.

Reviews and executes Service Agreements.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Must have a strong grounding in sponsored project
administration.  Position requires customer-oriented attitude including
tact and diplomacy.  Must have a highly developed degree of judgement,
initiative and the ability to work independently.  Strong communication,
organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.  Demonstrated
ability to execute multiple tasks and respond to multiple demands as part
of a team and to work and interact collaboratively; skilled in problem
solving; and ability to consider multiple alternatives are required.
Should have four plus years relevant work experience, bachelor's degree
required. Salary commensurate with experience. EDC offers a generous
