More 9ths...December Intercession.. Adam Kashuba 16 Mar 2001 16:47 EST

Hi Everyone,

Our faculty are on a "9 month" contract, but have December off as well as 2 ½ months for summer. In both cases, they can teach, but they receive a separate agreement and these months are not part of their academic year contract.

So, how would you treat a December intercession when faculty do not teach? Could one submit a proposal for December and for summer support? Logic says that you could not exceed 12 months, but 1 December month + 2 ½ summer = 3 ½ months. Add that to the 9 month contract and, oh, oh, more than 12 months. But is the 9 month contract just in name only?

What do you think?

Thanks!
Adam
