Typically, research projects follow the PI, but curriculum development and
training ones may not. Note that allowing a grant to be transferred does
not necessarily mean that equipment will transfer with it. Our state does
not allow state resources to be given away, so make sure you know whether
the project dictates that the equipment is the property of the institution
or if it is the property of the grantor, at least until the end of the
