Polytechic University has an exciting and unique opportunity for an
experienced, highly motivated, Research Accountant in their Contracts and
Grants Office. The Contracts and Grants Office is a component of the
University's Financial Operations, which oversees pre-award and post-award
administration of approximately $12 million in annual sponsored research
contracts and grants. Polytechnic is a private university located at Tech
Square in downtown Brooklyn, New York, offering bachelor's, master's, and
doctoral degrees in computer science, engineering, and management. The
University is in the midst of a dynamic transformation reflecting its
Strategic Plan.
The Research Accountant reports to the Assistant Director of Contracts and
Grants and has the primary responsibilities of: approving all grant
exenses, preparing monthly third party billings; tracking revenue, to
include recording daily cash receipts and preparing journal entries for
posting to project accounts; maintaining an aging schedule of receivables;
monitoring and reconciliation of budgets for compliance; process all
close-out documentation; interaction with faculty and federal agencies;
assisting with financial reporting; and reviewing and distributing monthly
project budget status reports.
Qualified applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree, preferably in
accounting, and two years experience working with grants and contracts in a
university, hospital or other not-for-profit environment. Applicants
should possess strong oral
and written communication skills, and have knowlege of and exposure to
integrated computerized financial systems (such as PeopleSoft, or other
Enterprise Resource Planning systems).
