Accounting Manager, Contracts and Grants Department University of Georgia, Athens The University of Georgia's main campus located in Athens, Georgia has an exciting and unique opportunity available for an Accounting Manager in the Contracts and Grants Department. A component of the University's Office of Finance and Administration, the Contracts and Grants Department is responsible for the post-award financial administration of approximately $160 million in sponsored project. The University's main campus covers 605 acres and includes 313 buildings. To its north, the campus adjoins historic downtown Athens, which features many boutiques, restaurants, entertainment, and service businesses. The University covers 4,308 acres in Clarke County and owns a total of 43,261 acres throughout the state. The Accounting Manager position reports to the Director of Contracts and Grants and has the primary responsibilities of: assisting University departments with financial matters relating to sponsored project activity; overseeing the preparation of financial reports and invoices to sponsors; assuring reports and invoices are prepared accurately and filed on time; ensuring University remains in compliance with Federal, state and local laws in regards to regulations related to contracts, grants, cooperative agreements, and other binding documents; and managing staff workload and supervision of daily operations utilizing system generated and query written reports. Qualified applicants must possess a minimum of a Bachelors degree, preferably in accounting, from a recognized institution of higher education, and be knowledgeable of Federal regulations affecting sponsored projects administration. Applicants must possess strong oral and written communication skills, and a technical background in the area of computerized financial systems for sponsored project administration. Supervisory experience within a Department of Contracts and Grants or a subsection thereof at a university of similar size is preferred.
