Manager of Grants and Contracts
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, one of the
top Medical Schools in the country, has a challenging opportunity available
for an experienced Grants and Contracts Manager. This position will manage
the award production activities for all projects funded at the Medical
School and supervise grant analysts and assistants who perform these
activities. For FY 2000 the School of Medicine received $303 million in
total awards and processed 1600 proposals. Washington University currently
ranks third among Medical Schools in receiving NIH funding.
The manager responsibilities include the following: award establishment via
an on-line mainframe accounting system, processing postaward agency
correspondence, conducting cost sharing training classes, analyzing award
data and preparing management reports, advising and training Medical School
administrators and faculty on research administration procedures,
maintaining knowledge of policies of federal and non-federal funding
agencies, interacting with funding agencies on a regular basis to obtain
award information or policy clarification, and developing and maintaining
policy and procedure documentation related to award and postaward
activities of the office.
Qualified candidate will have Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related
field. Previous management/supervisory experience preferred. Must have
3-5 years experience in research administration in a large university with
medical school research administration preferred.
