The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA has an opening for the
position of Manager, Industry Contracting Office. The specific
responsibilities of the manager include:

*       Overall management of industry sponsored research activities at
Georgia Tech.
*       Coordinate industry sponsored research relationships for Georgia
Tech through interaction with other Institute offices including the Office
of Technology Licensing, the Office of Legal Affairs, the Georgia Tech
Research Corporation and others.
*       Supervise personnel (contracting officers and support staff) in the
Industry Contracting Office.
*       Advise faculty on Institute and sponsor requirements for proposal
preparation.  Review formal proposals and proposal budgets to insure
conformance with Institute polices.  Prepare business and contractual
portions of proposals.  Negotiate or assist in the negotiations of sponsored
research agreements with private industry.  Initiate resulting
contracts/modifications in the Contract Administration database and serve as
the single point of contact for all administrative matters associated with
those awards.
*       Develop recommendations and continually review industry contracting
policies, procedures, and systems to safeguard the Institute and to provide
for effective, yet flexible, administration of that process.
*       Meet with faculty and administrators to provide advice, counsel and
education on all aspects of industry contracting matters.
*       Represent the Institute in national and state organizations.
A master's degree in business or in a related field or an equivalent
combination of education and experience is required.  Candidates should have
a minimum of seven years experience in research contract administration,
preferably in an industry environment working with non-profit institutions.
Experience in negotiating and administering subcontract awards under
Department of Defense and other Federal prime contracts would be an
advantage.  Accordingly, thorough working knowledge of the Federal
Acquisition Regulation is expected and demonstrated success in working with
industry sponsors of university research is also highly desired.  Candidates
should also have experience in contract administration database management
systems.  The successful candidate must have excellent supervisory skills,
management experience, and the ability to communicate and work with diverse
audiences.  A high degree of flexibility, attention to detail, the ability
to express ideas and positions, both orally and in written form, to all
levels of research professionals must have been demonstrated in previous
positions.  In addition, successful candidates must be U.S. citizens and be
able to obtain a national security clearance within a reasonable period of
time after employment.
