Investigator Needs Help Finding Co-Investigators

Dear RESADMers,
A little different kind of information request....
We have a microbioloby researcher at the College of Charleston who has
developed a new research interest in sarcoidosis. (Sarcoidosis is a
granulomatous disease in which inflammation occurs in lymph nodes,
lungs, liver, eyes, skin and other tissues; the cause is unknown.) He
would like to establish a collaboration with other basic/clinical
researchers who are looking for the cause of this disease. The work he
proposes involves the use the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to detect
the possible causitive agent(s).
In addition to his desire to find research collaborators, our researcher
needs to identify sources of non-preserved patient tissue samples
(blood, BAL or CNS fluids, other tissue biopsies) that are normally
ordered by physicians for diagnostic or routine monitoring purposes.
For controls, he will need similar tissues from patients who are clearly
not diagnosed with sarcoidosis and also from some who have tuverculosis.
If anyone at your institution/hospital is involved in sarcoidosis
research or treatment of patients with this disease, would you please
identify him/her. You may respond to me directly at xxxxxx@cofc.edu
rather than to the list. I will have our researcher contact your
researcher/clinician directly to determine if there is possibility of
collaboration and/or sample provision.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Barbara
