EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION FOR THE WALTHER CANCER FOUNDATION/INSTITUTE Walther Cancer Institute, a private, non-profit cancer research organization located in Indianapolis, Indiana, has conducted over $38 million dollars in research in collaboration with major universities throughout the Midwest since 1985. The Institute is seeking an experienced administrative leader for the position of Executive Director of Administration. The position will report directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for managing the day-to-day affairs of the Directors. Responsibilities will include: effective implementation of long-range management strategies to insure achievement of programmatic and financial objectives; leadership in the recruitment and hiring of a multi-cultural staff; build productive collaborative research relationships with universities, hospitals, free-standing cancer centers, and related health research and service organizations; and oversee major giving and planned gift solicitation efforts. Ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree in public administration, business administration or related fields and have a minimum of three years' experience in health research management. Work experience must include expertise in management, organization, institutional relations, personnel and financial matters, particularly as they relate to not-for-profit institutions; and interpersonal, communication and public relations skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, members of the Board, community leaders, university faculty and administrators, scientific principal investigators and external funding sources. Extensive experience in developing collaborative partnerships as well as a working knowledge of the national cancer program preferred.
