Re: mid-career funding Dean,Nancy N. 22 Nov 2000 15:43 EST

Good afternoon,

I have a mid-career faculty member that I am assisting to find
funding in order to retrain them in a different area of expertise. I have
suggested the K01program through NIH. However, NIGMS does not support K01.
Does anyone have any other suggestions that I might offer to this
individual? I've tried the NSF website but was unsuccessful. You assistance
would be most appreciated

Thanks and have a pleasant holiday!

Subject: American Egg Board

I am still sifting through the CFR's but decided that the RESADM-L listserv
might be faster. Hope you don't mind.

We have an "opportunity" to submit a proposal to the American Egg Board.
They were established by USDA to promote eggs, egg products and assist
producers. Like many of these producer "boards" they want to own the IP so
that they can ensure that the Government gets what it is due.

While I build my case to the contrary, I wondered if anyone has worked with
these folks before, had any success at getting the language changed, or
knows of specific legislation that says they really do or really don't have
rights to IP. BTW - I do plan to cite Bayh-Dole.

One interesting thing is that in their cover letter they state that if we
even want to talk about changing the language, we should refrain from
submitting the proposal to begin with. They indicate that others have gone
before me and lost. Pretty confident of them.

I sure could use your help. Thanks.
