My campus, indeed the entire California State University System, is
about to embark on a multi-year, multi-phased process of converting to
Year Round Operations (YRO). Four campuses have been organized that way
for many years, and now the other 19 will have a go at it. We are a
faculty and staff collective bargaining system, but there is very little
known about how this will all finally get into the Bargaining Agreements
and MOU's. In fact, there is very little known at this point,
particularly about unintended consequences.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone at a campus or in a system
(Florida comes to mind) that has had the experience of converting to
YRO. I am interested in all challenges and benefits of YRO having to do
with pre-award, post-award, development, F&A, space utilization,
internal programs, project budgets in transition, etc.
If you respond off-line, with your permission I will share the comments
with my system colleagues through the CSU list serv.
Thanks,
Jim
