Vice President, Research Administration

New England Medical Center is a 410 bed academic medical center which serves
as the primary teaching facility for the Tufts University Health Sciences
Schools.  New England Medical Center has a 60 million dollar research base
and consistently ranks in the top 5% of NIH-funded institutions or
hospitals.  Ongoing research programs encompass basic, clinical, and social
science and training.  New England Medical Center is recognized as a leader
in molecular cardiology, gastroenterology, cancer and women's health
research.

Over the next five years, New England Medical Center plans to double the
size of the current research program and facilities.  In conjunction with
senior management, faculty and Board of Trustees, the Vice President
develops and prioritizes New England Medical Center policies and programs
and allocates institutional resources.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Research
Administration is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for:

*       Grants and Contracts

*       Technology Transfer
*       Clinical Research Office
*       Compliance Committees: IRB, IACUC
*       Institutional Research Funds
*       Research Space & Facilities
*       Research Personnel

The qualified candidate will provide fiscal oversight for research programs
and shared resources.  This person must have a working knowledge of
biomedical and clinical research environments and a minimum of ten years
related experience in a senior leadership position in a research or academic
institution. A bachelor's degree is required, an advanced degree preferred
with demonstrated excellent oral and written communications skills,
managerial, negotiation and leadership skills.

The candidate is expected to guide the New England Medical Center through
and to the level of research growth that is part of the Center's strategic
plan.
