Florida Atlantic University, a growing research institution in the State

of Florida with a current sponsored research activity portfolio of
nearly $40M invites applications for the position of Assistant Director,

Division of Sponsored Research.

Functions of the position:

Establishes, maintains, and supervises day-to-day operations of the pre-

and post-award functions of the Division related to the administration
of grants and contracts.  Reviews and approves post-award requests for
budget and significant program/research modifications for allowability
and fiscal integrity and follows up as necessary with sponsoring
agencies.  Assists in supervision of coordinator staff to maximize
effectiveness and to ensure a high level of service.  Assists in the
preparation of reports and other documents regarding sponsored
activities as required by the University, the Board of Regents, and the
Florida Department of Education.  Responsible for monitoring current and

projected departmental budgets and related procedures. Responsible for
contract and subcontract review and approval.  Maintains close working
relationship with University General Counsel's office.   Acts as
Director, at Director's request, during his/her absence.   Other duties
as assigned by the Director.

The Assistant Director recommends and assists in the development and
implementation of policies and procedures related to negotiation of
awards and the conduct of sponsored activities at the University.
Interprets, implements, and monitors federal, state, local, commercial,
and private non-profit agency policies and regulations governing the
management of grants and contracts.  Assists in assuring University
compliance with governmental rules and regulations regarding use of
human subjects, animals, and hazardous substances in research,
scientific misconduct, and other regulatory issues.

Requirements:

Masters degree in appropriate area and four years of comprehensive
sponsored research administration experience with supervisory experience

preferred OR Bachelors degree in appropriate area and six years of
comprehensive sponsored research administration experience.  Must have
understanding of the university research environment, excellent written
and oral communication and presentation skills.

Salary negotiable up to $67,000 depending on experience. FAU offers
excellent benefits. The position is available immediately. Those that
