Re: Educational Exceptions Barbara LoDico 20 Sep 2000 06:10 EST

Nancy,

No we do not grant exceptions. The reason being is that we do not know the
course content and our training has been designed to test the knowledge
gained. Medical ethics and/or bioethics is not necessarily human subjects
protections. We tried to make it as easy as possible to complete the course
and the test by making it web based. But we do not grant waivers.

Subject: Educational Exceptions

For those of you who have developed your own instructional programs in
protection of Human Subjects, are you allowing any exceptions? For
example, do you allow new PhD recipients who just completed a
course/dissertation project involving human subjects to cite coursework
completed instead? Do you allow student researchers to cite an
undergraduate course completed? Do you allow faculty who are publishing
authoritative articles on human subjects protections to cite their
publications?
