The pay grade scale is available at http://www.uh.edu/admin/hr/employ/bulletin/c_all.htm#. **************************************************************************** ****** Senior Research Administrator Posting Number 000955 Pay Grade: A71 Summary: Performs the more complex pre-award and post-award administration of federal, state, private profit and private non-profit grants and contracts awarded to the University of Houston. Serves as team leader for research administration team for assigned college units. Job duties: 1. Reviews proposals to external funding sources, from submission to award; initiates the creation of accounts according to awarded project budgets and modifies accounts according to revised award notices. 2. Provides guidance and expertise to faculty, department administrators and university executives on a wide variety of grants and contract issues. 3. Responsible for customer problem review and resolution for research administration team. 4. Develops and implements internal operation of procedures for assigned team; coordinates the work activities of assigned team and provides work direction as needed. 5. Maintains web based proposal submission and research administration using ERA (electronic research administration) systems. 6. Negotiates the terms and conditions of grants and sub-recipient awards with potential sponsors and awardees and reviews contracts in conjunction with the Research Contracts Officer. 7. Researches sponsor's financial and administrative regulations applicable to funded projects. 8. Audits sponsored project accounts and evaluates expenditure documents according to federal, state, and university guidelines for allowability and appropriateness. 9. Provides research compliance training for faculty and staff. 10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Job Requirements: Education Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical, or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-relates experience. Certification/Licensing None Work Complexity Requires a broad knowledge of principles and practices within a professional field. Work is very nonstandardized and widely varied, involving many complex and significant variables Change in Knowledge The knowledge and/or technology used in the job changes periodically; occasional study and training is required. Problem Solving Requires in-depth analysis to interpret and evaluate obscure/vague information in the development of new solutions for complex technical and/or managerial problems. Exercises discretion and independent judgement in comparing and recommending numerous solutions. Problems may be atypical within the unit. Analytical ability and inductive thinking are required in extensively adapting policies, procedures, and methods to fit unusual or complex situations.
