Development Associate II (Pre-award)
The Public Health Institute (PHI), an independent, nonprofit, public health
research organization, is looking for a diplomatic and congenial person to
be part of the team preparing federal, state, and private foundation grant
and contract applications.
Dedicated to promoting health, well-being and quality of life for people
throughout California, across the nation and around the world, PHI is one of
the largest public health nonprofit agencies in the United States. With an
annual budget of $65 million and a staff of nearly 550, including more than
120 researchers, community specialists, and project directors conducting
approximately 400 projects funded by state and federal government and
private foundations, PHI also hosts twenty Centers of Excellence focused on
many of the major public health issues such as alcohol problems, tobacco
control, cancer, disabilities, public health infrastructure, and community
quality of life improvement. Further information regarding the

Qualifications: BA/BS and 2-4 years of increasingly responsible, relevant,
full-time work experience and familiarity with federal, state, and/or
private foundation grant or contracting rules/regulations; excellent math
and budgeting skills; above average written and verbal communication skills
including proof reading/editing; and extensive software skills (WordPerfect
6.1, Word, Lotus 5, Excel, and Access or Paradox). This exempt position may
require long days, evening or weekend work depending on the job flow. Must
have valid California drivers license and satisfactory driving record.
Salary: $3510/month (depending on experience) with excellent benefits.
