Martha, We at UNC do not have such a policy. Just as a point that I'm sure you have mentioned to them, there are facilities and administrative costs related to any size sponsored research agreement. If you forfeit the reimbursement of those costs - some other part of the institutional revenue stream subsidizes this project. This is the first I have heard of inistitutions having this type of policy. Companies of any size (small or large) that you are working with should understand overhead costs and the need to recover them. John "Martha M.
