Assistant Controller, Contract and Grant Accounting
Florida A&M University has a vacancy for the position of Assistant
Controller, Contract and Grant Accounting (Position No. 20828). This
position reports to the Associate Controller and has the following
responsibilities:
Performs supervisory and independent professional accounting work for
the university as well as acting for the Controller in the absence of
the Controller and Associate Controller, or at his/her direction.
Duties and responsibilities encompassed by the foregoing include
assisting the Controller and Associate Controller in the direct
supervision of the Contracts and Grants area of the Controller's
Office. This position represents the University in committee
assignments, national and state-wide meetings and workshops and
conferences.
Responsible for the review and evaluation of proposed and current
federal, state and local laws, policies and procedures, and determining
the need for recommending revisions to university policies and
procedures on a continuing basis. The policies and procedures relate to
the Contract and Grant section in particular and the university in
general with regard to accounting, internal controls and systems.
Evaluate and implement newly established or revised federal and state
rules and regulations as effected by the Legislature, Board of Regents,
granting agencies and other regulatory agencies.
This position is responsible for needs assessments, development and
maintenance of automated systems independently and in conjunction with
computer services as related to the information needs of the Contracts
and Grants Section specifically, and the Controller's Office in general.
Coordinate year-end closing activities, and prepare annual computerized
financial statements and other periodic financial reports.
Responsibility includes the cash management of all Contract and Grant
activities to ensure timely reimbursements and systematic draws on
letter of credit accounts totaling in excess of $42 million per year.
Responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of expenditures and
receipts to sponsoring agencies, the assessment and distribution of
indirect costs, and timely closeout of accounts.
Supervision includes direct supervision of four (4) Coordinator,
Accounting positions and three (3) student OPS positions. Included is
planning, directing and evaluation of accounting systems, personnel
matters and general office functions including developing and
implementing policies and procedures related to the general area of
supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
A master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years
of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area
of specialization and four years of appropriate experience. Prefer:
Experience in contracts and grants fiscal administration. Salary
negotiable based upon training and experience.
