For those of you at non-medical-research-intensive universities, if you're
looking for a good education site to meet the new Human Subjects education
requirements, try the University of Minnesota web site at
http://www.research.umn.edu/consent
They have two programs, one for health and biological sciences, and one for
social and behavioral sciences. The soc program focuses on the kinds of
things a researcher using surveys and interview techniques would need to
know. At the end of the four-module program, there's a 20
true/false/multiple choice question test. Your test results appear on the
web when you finish and you can print off the results. So researchers
could run through the program and take the test (or just take the test if
they think they can pass on the fly) and submit proof of completion of
training.
I'd be interested in hearing what other people think of the site and
whether they think using it to meet the new regs will be appropriate.
