(Fwd) Fastlane PDF issues Sharon Jackiw 09 Jun 2000 09:24 EST

I'm forwarding this message from a non-subscribing colleague:

I have been following the discussion about converting to PDF for
Fastlane and thought I should mention a behavior that we discovered.
As several people mentioned, it is possible to add or modify pages in
PDF, distill them to a postscript file, then reconvert them to 3.0
format. This works until they are posted to Fastlane. However if a
PDF is DOWNLOADED from Fastlane, modified, converted to postscript,
and redistilled, the contents of the document are shifted about 2" to
the right, giving a 3" left margin and chopping off the righthand
side of the text. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know
of a solution (assuming the original source document is not
available)? We ended up cutting and pasting the text (which removes
the formatting) into a new Word document and starting over.
