The University of Missouri-Kansas City is accepting applications for the
position of:
Research Associate
within the Office of PreAward Research Services.  This Office, housed in its own
facility on campus, assists UMKC faculty and researchers to identify funding for
their projects and to develop and submit high-quality proposals. The Office is
also responsible for training in grants development and administration and for
maintaining the support infrastructure necessary for successful proposal
development.

The Research Associate serves as a specialist in grants development and reports
to the Director of PreAward Services Office.  Responsibilities include the
following:

*       Conducting funding searches for faculty and staff, monitoring funding
opportunities and managing the funding alert service to faculty
*       Supporting faculty and staff in use of various proposal/research
databases and software packages-such as COS, IRIS, among others
*       Conducting necessary research for and assisting in the writing of
proposals, project profiles, corporate qualifications statements and other types
of documents
*       Establishing and maintaining department databases
*       Formatting and coordinating production and submission of proposals
*       Maintaining the PreAward Web Page

Bachelors degree is required.  A Masters degree is preferred.  Must have
excellent written and oral communication skills, be a self-starter and
energetic, and be able to work under and meet inflexible  deadlines.
Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets is required.  Successful
experience as a grants writer is preferred.  Experience with desktop publishing
and graphics packages is a plus.
