DIRECTOR, GRANTS AND CONTRACTS ACCOUNTING SERVICES The George Washington University, the largest institution of higher education in the nations capital, is currently seeking enthusiastic, organized, customer service-oriented candidates for a Director, Grants and Contracts Accounting Services. Reporting to the Comptroller, the Director, Grants and Contracts Accounting Services will manage the Grants and Contracts Accounting Service (GCAS) unit and will provide expert level professional services related to grant and contract accounting to include, but not limited to, consultation on regulatory and policy issues, compilation of financial documents in accordance with federal regulations, final rate negotiations with agencies, innovative use/integration of new technology, and the development of training materials for GCAS and University researchers. To be considered an applicant, it is necessary to have a Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management; a minimum of seven years of management experience in a post award grants management office in a large, complex non-profit organization and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in fund accounting and/or grant accounting and grant budgeting and forecasting; wide-ranging experience in the principles, practices and procedures relative to federal and non-federal sponsored research in a research medical university; advanced knowledge of computer-oriented applications and technology; strong leadership, communication and presentation skills; and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A Masters degree in Business Administration or related field and/or a CPA credential and demonstrated success in change management, to include business process re-engineering and/or implementation of new information systems, is preferred. Previous experience with Oracle financial software is desirable.
