If research is done on our campus, subjects are recruited from our patients,
and/or our faculty are involved, our IRB reviews the protocol. Other IRBs
may review and, information about those reviews, may be submitted along with
the protocol and other items. But, our IRB and our IRB only approves
research involving human subjects when one or more of the conditions in my
first statement are met...Bill

Subject: IRB
I asked a question the other day and only received one response, which was
helpful. However, I would like to hear more, if possible.
The question had to do with commercial (non-local) IRB's.
Does your institution allow faculty to use a non-local IRB under any
circumstances?
The guidelines allow investigators, which are not affiliated with an
organization that has a local IRB, to use a non-local IRB. Does your
institution define affiliation?
Thanks!!
Thane
