Grants Management Coordinator (Two Newly Created Positions):
BACKGROUND: The University of Maryland, College Park, Offices of Research Administration & Advancement provides pre-award and post-award, research administration support services with the exception of financial functions, to its thirteen colleges, schools and other units. The University received approximately 203 million dollars in grants and contracts during fiscal year 1999. As it continues to experience rapid growth in its research, training and scholarly activities, ORAA has the need to recruit and fill two newly created positions to help manage the increased growth and complexity in its sponsored programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position reports to a Contract Manager/Team Leader, and assumes responsibility for a wide range of research administration duties which include reviewing proposals, ensuring compliance with sponsor and university's policies and procedures, contract negotiation and acceptance, subcontracting, post-award administration, acting as liaison between sponsors and faculty departmental administrators.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors' degree and at least three years experience in research administration or similar work required. Knowledge of Federal Circulars, OMB A-21, A-110, A-133 and Federal Acquisition Regulations required. Experience in negotiating research grant and contract clauses suitable for a university also required. Must demonstrate excellent proficiency in communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and have the ability to reconcile differing viewpoints. Strong customer service orientation in a deadline driven environment is essential.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
