SRA Meeting in Virginia Beach Morgan, Jennifer 28 Mar 2000 18:16 EST

The SRA NE Section Meeting in Virginia Beach is scheduled for May 6-10,
2000. There are 9 half or full-day workshops and over 30 sessions scheduled
for the meeting. The workshop and session presenters sounds like a who's
who in Research Administration, including many names you will definitely
recognize from this discussion list and the national meetings. The topics
are far ranging for all interest areas and experience levels in research
administration. There will be representatives from a wide variety of both
federal and private funding sources to speak about issues of mutual interest
to the sponsoring agencies and the recipient institutions.

You do not have to be a member of SRA to attend this meeting, although a
discounted trial membership is available if you would like to join. The
meeting fees and hotel rates are very reasonable and as usual, most of your
meals will be included in the registration fee to help keep your travel
costs at a minimum.

If you have a new administrator in your department, this is definitely a
meeting you want them to attend. The days and dollars invested in this
meeting will more than yield a ten-fold return from the training obtained.
The meeting is particularly structured so that during the course of the
meeting, a newcomer to research administration can get a comprehensive
overview of the many aspects of the profession. Moreover, they will be
learning from the best in the profession.

There are a number sessions and workshops that will be of interest to the
intermediate and seasoned research administrators as well. Rather than
attending another professional meeting where you are trying to decide if any
of the concurrent sessions being offered during a time slot are of interest
to you, you will be trying to choose between several very strong sessions to
determine which one you want to attend the most.

We already have 90 registrants and the hotel is filling fast, so if you are
interested, please register right away using the convenient on-line
registration form. The program is not going to be mailed this year so
please view it at http://sra.rams.com/cws/sra/ne.htm.

We look forward to seeing you in beautiful Virginia Beach!
