Located in the center of Iowa, the City of Des Moines is the political, economic, and cultural capital of the state. The city is center to insurance, printing, finance, and retail and wholesale trade as well as industry, providing a diverse economic base. With a population of 438,000, metropolitan Des Moines provides many advantages of both large and small town living. Iowa State University is located just north of Des Moines while the University of Iowa is located in eastern Iowa.  Drake University and the Des Moines University (an osteopathic medicine school) are located in downtown Des Moines.

Des Moines is at the crossroads of America with the interchange of interstates I-80 and I-35 and is within 300 miles of Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis/St. Paul, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Omaha. Research Administrator for the Human Gene Therapy Research Institute (HGTRI)

This position provides administrative support for the day to day operations of the Institute including, but not exclusive of: personnel; purchasing; internal financial management, research grant proposal development and submission; manage contracts, grants, and/or material transfer agreements; and develop and implement administrative policies and procedures.
