Director of Administrative Services, Departments of Geology, Meteorology and ESSIC, 12 months Full-time position.
Position Available on or before April 1, 2000
The Director of Administrtive Services is responsible for the management of an administrative service center, which provides support for all business, finance,facilities and inventory activities for the Departments of Meteorology and Geology, and the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center (annual expenditures $9.6M), in compliance with all University, State and Federal policies and procedures. The Director of Administrative Services also serves as senior staff advisor to the Chairs and Director of the units mentioned above, and also serves as the administrative representative for these units on major College and Campus committees.
Education-Bachelor's degree required, with graduate education and/or professional Certification preferred.
Experience-Preferred candidate will have substantive and increasingly responsible experience in financial management; will have strong accounting and/or contract and grant financial administration experience in higher education; will have successful experience and high level of skill in using appropriate PC based software to support position responsibilities; will have thorough knowledge of Federal requirements regarding the use of sponsored research funds; successful experience in supervising financial and administrative support staff; will have experience in managing facilities issues and/or renovations. Experience within the University System of Maryland is highly desirable. The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience; initial salary range targeted at $75K-$85+K
