Regional NSF Grant Development Conference: Update Charles Graham 26 Jan 2000 12:54 EST
Dear Resadm-l and NCURASE Colleagues: I would like to remind you of the Regional NSF Grant Development Conference to be held at LSU, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, March 20-22, 2000, and repeat the message for those who might not have got it because of the Y2K interruption of resadm-l service. NOTE: the Early Bird registration discount deadline of February 19th is fast approaching! This is truly shaping up as a great event! The agenda and other details are now available on our Conference Web page, including a list of NSF staff (at lease 18!) who will be participating: http://www.doce.lsu.edu/conferences/nsf I ask that as key (and reachable) representatives of your institution, you pass this information on to your faculty, and to those administrators who can do so, or who may be interested in participating. This is a special opportunity for researchers and science educators in the South and Southeast to meet and learn together, but the conference is open to researchers nationwide. We plan a special effort to bring researchers with similar interests together. The scope includes sciences, social sciences, mathematics, engineering and science education; NSF Directors and staff from a number of directorates, and key administrators, will participate. Workshops and presentations by leading NSF staff will include: Introduction and NSF Overview Proposal Preparation Merit Review Process Electronic Initiatives, Policies, and Special Issues Grant Administration, Compliance, and Accountability Challenges, Opportunities and New Directions FastLane workshops Break-out sessions with NSF Program staff and administrators (see topics on Web), and opportunities for one-on-one meetings Fees and Registration: The conference fee of $150 includes continental breakfasts, breaks, luncheons, conference materials and a cultural event, "A Taste of Louisiana", featuring a Cajun Dinner and Dixieland Jazz Band.
