Hello out there----

Our institution is applying for FDP membership, and I’ve been tasked with preparing our application.  I’m hoping to get some advice; pointers; language from those who are better at wordsmithing than I.

Below is a draft of my answers to the application’s questions.  Advice & feedback from the group would be much appreciated!  If you wish to respond directly, please do so to xxxxxx@tntech.edu

What does your organization expect to achieve by participating in the FDP?
Tennessee Tech has an institutional goal of doubling the amount of sponsored research expenditures in the next five years.  To do will require streamlining processes; innovation; and continuously improving.

Knowing that other institutions have sought such improvements in their funding, we hope to learn from them and share what we learn for other institutions to follow.
Further, we hope to standardize where possible, particularly in the areas of subrecipient monitoring agreements and participation in the FDP Clearinghouse.

We are confident that participating in the FDP will support our efforts in accountability, good stewardship of sponsors’ funds, and increased efficiency in the award lifecycle at TTU.

What ways will your institution contribute to the work of the FDP?
Our institutional goal of doubling research presents an opportunity for us to document our journey to that goal and sharing what we learn along the way.  This could include new procedures, policies, workflows, and forms that enable us to streamline and simplify the administrative processes of the grant lifecycle.

How will your organization identify a faculty member to attend and actively participate in the FDP?
TTU has a University Research Advisory Committee.  Through that committee, we will identify either a committee member or another faculty member to participate with the FDP.  We also will work our CIO to identify someone from our computing services to participate.
