Trying to keep the panic at bay, both within our office and with our faculty. In an absence of knowledge, folks are creating their own narratives.
My hope for all of is that this is as short-lived as possible and our institutions navigate this with clear heads.

Hello,
Aren’t we the popular ones?
Based on the last few days of unpublished awards: I had a feeling the fed fund freezing would happen.
How is everyone handling this?
Any insight besides what the news is telling us?

Good morning,
We conduct both annual and monthly projection reviews. At the start of each year, we use a three-year average to estimate the expected IDC revenue for the year. However, to ensure the projection remains accurate, we reassess after the first quarter by averaging the actual IDC revenue from the current first quarter to refine the estimate. Given the rapidly changing trends in research administration, this approach allows us to make more accurate and informed projections based on current data.

Hello all!
We have a situation within our health system in which a researcher was hired through an independent employment/consulting firm. They are otherwise considered a full-time employee of our organization and have a faculty appointment through an affiliated University. Do any of you have experience describing this type of relationship on federal grant applications and if you have policies that allow or disallow these types of hires from serving as PI on applications from your institution? Any guidance or examples of “description”, particularly as it relates to budget justification, or “policy” would be appreciated.

My two cents from some of the language you list below (I highlighted it):
If the person is otherwise eligible to be a PI because they are an employee and have a faculty appointment through the affiliated University, I don’t see how information about how they were hired is relevant. I would describe them as I would any other employee/appointee.

I can't answer this except I have seen as you express an uptick in use of AI technology with some free apps. My concern is that there is no guarantee an app is going to be available by the time of award and my other concern is exactly how do we explain this cost/non cost and how is it handled? Hi friends!!!
We’ve had an uptick in faculty who seek/receive ‘free’ software for use in their classrooms by for profit companies. It’s contractual with some terms & conditions and some reporting/data collection. I have 1 now valued at $9m. we’ve done them in the past through our ‘sponsored projects’ but I’m curious how others handle.
QUESTION: Sponsored projects or Advancement? Grant/Contract or donation? Business decision?

Hi Kiegan,
Workday implementation is highly individualized. What your PI dashboard will include is dependent on what your programmers put in place and the details of your FDM set up.

Hi All,
I think this is how I contribute to the thread. Does anyone use Workday for their institutions sponsored programs management? We are in the process of transitioning, and we were wondering just what a PI will see on their "PI dashboard." I understand that the PIs grants will obviously show, but what about any internal funds (i.e. lab start up or "overhead"). Is there a report available to run and get balance/transactions for their non-sponsored funds? Or is there a way to customize the PI dashboard to include other fund types?
Also, any Workday tips & tricks would be greatly appreciated, we are currently starting out on a rocky road as far as learning Workday goes.
Thanks in Advance,
