We are talking to the NSF Help Desk now and there is a known issue with the system on their end. The verification emails are not going out but they are working on it.

USE CAUTION: External Message.

We’ve experienced the same problem with verification emails.  Every option that we’ve tried has resulted in the need for verification emails, none of which have arrived yet.  (the first attempt was 4 hours ago)

Our authorized representative account could be accessed using a security key via an existing Login.gov account, but all other users have been required to receive verification emails.  Monday…

Thanks,

Brad

In my office, the email address to our primary addresses are not coming through at all…  Everything that we try seems to require the initial email verification to our primary email address and those emails are not coming through.  I finally received one of them about 30 minutes ago and of course, by the time I received it the link had expired.

Everyone in my office seems to have different options.  My NSF credentials with an email to my address was not successful.  I was able to use the Login.gov option and select the face unlock method.  However, no one else in my office has this face unlock option.  We are going to be using passkeys.

I was curious when I attempted to log in this morning about what kind of info or prompts I would get, and I didn’t get any kind of option or link to set up a face or touch unlock method – my only options were to insert a passkey or government ID.

After attempting to log in using all 3 methods offered, the only one that worked was using my organizational credentials, so that will be my path moving forward. 😊

Reduction of administrative burden? I think not…

I was just able to successfully log in to Research.gov via Login.gov using the below, as well. I will note, when setting up the “face or touch unlock” method and generating a passkey, I had to do it in Chrome, since I kept getting an error when trying to do it in Firefox. Once it was set up, however, I could use Firefox to log in to Research.gov using the “face or touch unlock” method.

You can login to Login.gov and update your account by adding a ‘face or touch unlock’ method or a security key. After adding my ‘face or touch unlock’ method, a passkey was saved to my computer and then I was able to login to Research.gov via the Login.gov link.

They are moving to 2 factor authentication as of 10/27 and have help instructions to guide people through setting it up and logging in at that time.  I've been going into research.gov directly without issue.  Via login.gov does ask for the security key or govt id which may be related to the upcoming login updates?
